Are you at the beginning of your career as an engineer and excited about challenging design & build projects? Do you want to collaborate with enthusiastic teams to realise our unique architectural projects, with plenty of room to further explore, broaden or deepen your expertise and talent? Then we have a great role for you!

As an enthusiastic and talented technical designer, you will join us in the challenge of pushing the boundaries between architecture, construction, and execution. You will work on unique construction projects both domestically and internationally. Whether it involves new construction or renovation, each project has its own challenges in terms of complexity, detailing, and material usage. This makes your work varied and inspiring.

At Octatube, an engineer is responsible for the design, drawing, and modelling work necessary for the analysis, conceptualisation, materialisation, and detailing of our projects. In your role as a junior engineer, you will handle all architectural detailing and materialisation choices, fully developing them in 3D. You will also contribute your own construction technical knowledge and, where necessary, gather knowledge within your project team.

Within your project team, you will collaborate closely with structural engineers, technicians, technical draftsmen, design managers, project managers, and project coordinators. The collaboration with our production and assembly teams is also crucial to not only realise an architecturally challenging design, but also a safe and executable design that can be efficiently assembled. A major advantage for you is that through this collaboration, you will learn about the many facets of design & build.

As a starting engineer, experience is not a requirement, although it is certainly helpful. We will provide you with guidance to fulfil your role successfully, and you will have plenty of room to grow and develop your talent. Over approximately one year, you will get to know our design & build environment well and gain significant experience in realising complex architectural constructions made of glass, steel, and wood.

What you will be doing
  • You will go through a challenging internal development programme and become acquainted with all our design & build expertise.

  • You will analyse specifications, design drawings, calculation reports, and the wishes of the project team.

  • You will come up with design solutions, present your concepts, and refine them through architectural detailing, in collaboration with your project team.

  • You will fully develop the design in 3D models according to Octatube’s structural guidelines. You will contribute ideas about internal and external production and safe assembly on site.

This is what you bring
  • You have a (nearly) completed HBO or WO degree in architecture, construction technology, construction management or similar.
  • You are driven to work with a team to realise unique architecture.
  • You are solution-oriented and results-driven, with a proactive attitude while carrying out your tasks with accuracy and careful attention to detail. You have a parametric level of thinking.
  • You can clearly present design solutions in sketch form, and your technical drawing skills are representative.
  • You have good communication skills in both Dutch and English (verbal and written forms).
  • You have a practical orientation, a focus on construction, and a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Basic skills in handling 3D programs like Inventor, SolidWorks, Rhino or Sketchup are a plus.

This is what you get
  • A gross monthly salary between €3.504 - €4.298. We are happy to match this to your knowledge and experience.
  • The opportunity to work from home by mutual agreement. We have a home working allowance of €2,90 net per working day.
  • A smartphone with a subscription.
  • 38 days off per year on a 40-hour per week contract (apart from public holidays, of course).
  • 8% holiday allowance.
  • Comfortable travel to our office with our bicycle plan, NS-card and kilometer allowance.
  • Ample learning and development opportunities.
  • And, of course, lots of challenge and fun!
